Shortly before the Oregon House of Representatives passed its alternative fuel measure on Thursday, Rep. Chris Edwards stood on the meeting room floor and proclaimed that biofuels investment will be Oregon's next "gold rush."

Comparing clean energy technology to the discovery of gold along the Columbia River, Edwards, a Democrat representing West Eugene, Santa Clara, Junction City, Cheshire and Alvadore, said that passage of House Bill 2210 would encourage economic development in the state.
