Portland Bureau of Environmental Services to Unveil Hollywood Sewer Placement Options

The Portland Bureau of Environmental Services will hold an open house Thursday to present options for impending sewer reconstruction in Portland's Hollywood District. More than 2.5 miles of sewer will go in the 30-block area, with sewer pipe sizes ranging from 10 inches to 12 feet in diameter. The most disruptive part of the project will be installing the 12-foot pipe, which will be laid late next year.
Although the large pipe will make up only 10 percent of the total length laid during the sewer reconstruction project, it will be a big piece of the project in terms of cost and disruption to the area. Nearly 1,800 feet of the 12-foot-diameter pipe will be installed in one of three places in the Northeast neighborhood: on Broadway Street from 37th to 40th avenues plus Sandy Boulevard from 40th to 44th avenues, on Hancock Street from 38th to 42nd avenues plus Sandy from 47th to 49th avenues, or from 37th to 44th avenues on Sandy.See the full content of this document
