Eugene Vet Housing Project Proposed

Summary

The St. Vincent de Paul Society of Lane County Inc. has proposed a new low-income housing development for veterans.

Located at 1070 W. Sixth Ave. in Eugene, the project would include 10 one-bedroom units from 512 square feet to 646 square feet, an 880-square-foot community space, and an office for a Veteran Administration homeless outreach worker. The community space would serve homeless veterans, while the housing units would be offered at $385 to $453 per month. The community room will also offer space for 31 veterans from the organization's VetLIFT I and II programs, as well as those living on site. St. Vincent has been awarded a four-year Oregon Housing and Community Services subsidy to supplement rents, and after the subsidy expires, St. Vincent will establish a rental subsidy fund for six of the veteran units to keep rents low.
