A long-rumored, massive Port of Tillamook Bay project is inching closer to reality, and port officials believe it could happen as early as spring 2005.

For 12 years the port, which occupies about 1,600 industrial- zoned acres two miles south of Tillamook, has been trying to make progress on a handful of projects. Each of the projects - an 18- hole golf course, a 150-room hotel, a convention center and a 256- lot residential subdivision - on its own would change Tillamook County's largely agricultural landscape. Now, the port is pushing forward on all of the projects at once.
